Used Car Market Conditions Commentary

My name is Robert Miller, I am the Used Car Buyer here at Freedom Nissan. I spend my time traveling the country, going to various car sales, auctions, and purchasing the select cars that comprise our Pre-Owned Inventory.
By visiting these sales weekly, I am able to experience first-hand, on a wholesale level , what is happening with the used car market. Just as the stock market fluctuates on a daily basis, so does the used car market. One day a stock could be trading for $23 a share and the next day that same stock could be trading for $20 a share. The same thing happens to the used car market. When this fluctuation occurs, I am able to capitalize on that. When a particular brand, make, or style of car happens to go down in price due to market conditions, I try to purchase those cars in bulk. By doing this I am able to bring those cars back to my dealership and give the customer the advantage. I am able to sell the cars for less money than book value, and most of the time for less than the local competitors. This gives our dealership a competitive edge and our customer a Great Deal!
In the last couple of weeks there has been a noticeable trend in European and non- domestic luxury brand cars (ie. Mercedes, BMW, Infiniti). It is a downward trend, meaning I have been able to purchase these cars for less money than in the previous last three months. You, the customer, should see a dramatic savings on these cars for sale at our dealership.
Small SUV'S and Crossover vehicles still remain to bring better than average money at the auction and have remained fairly stable in the market over the last several months. Small compact cars are coming down in price, and as we head into the winter, compacts are transitioning back to lower prices vs. this past summer's all-time highs. By staying on top of the used car market, it allows our dealership to sell our pre-owned inventory to our customers at an Exceptional Value.
