For those who own an electric vehicle like the Nissan LEAF, one of the few downsides is finding a charging station outside your local network. It greatly deters a long road trip or any long-distance travel due to the uncertainty of not knowing where a station might be. That's where Adopt a Charger comes in, and Nissan was among the first to tackle the issue of installing more charging stations in California.

You'd have to be living in complete isolation not to have heard of the LEAF - Nissan's ground-breaking electric car designed for urban drivers looking to eliminate their reliance on foreign oil and dramatically lighten their carbon footprint... It's thanks to the LEAF that Nissan is credited with pioneering the EV industry and introducing the first mass-produced electric vehicle to the market.

That said. Not all eco-minded drivers live in metropolitan areas. So, as to not leave out their rural friends, Nissan is now...

Nissan's initiative to develop a faster quick charger for EVs has been a top priority for some time now. With their recently announced new charger technology, they're prepared to bring their new EV charger to the market as early as November...

The Nissan LEAF isn't even available nationwide yet, and already the vehicle has won enough awards and accolades to fill a trophy case. Not only has it been named 2011 World Car of the Year and 2011 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK. It's ranked on the  2011 Top Green Cars list as well as Ward's 10 Best Engines, and received a Popular Mechanics' Breakthrough Award. Adding to this impressive array, is a new five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Nissan is joining forces with Cummins, a major manufacturer of diesel engines in the U.S. to bring cutting-edge fuel-efficient technology to the half-ton pickup truck market. Specifically, the two companies, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, are working to develop a ground-breaking 220-horsepower (hp), turbocharged 2.8-liter inline-four-cylinder diesel engine.

If the dynamic duo's engine goes according to plan...

Last month, the European Commission launched a four-year Green eMotion initiative in Europe to promote electromobility. Among the many partners involved with the initiative are a host of industrial companies, utilities, municipalities, universities, technology and research institutions, and of course auto manufacturers, such as Nissan Renault.

Nissan and the many other partners involved in the Green eMotion initiative are expected to gain valuable experience with electromobility within...

Further proving their commitment to electric vehicles, Nissan has presented a plan to build its first-ever solar-powered car-charging station to city officials in Franklin, Tennessee - home of the company's headquarters.  If approved, this would mark a significant advancement over the current electric charging stations currently housed at the headquarters.

What is Nissan's "Carwings"? Is it a badge? A point system? Maybe a social networking system?

In part, it is all of three of these things. Ultimately Nissan's Carwings is a cutting-edge in-dash system that allows drivers to compare their driving habits to fellow Nissan LEAF drivers. At a high-level, the Carwings system connects every LEAF to a network, tracking valuable data such as: miles driven, charge remaining, and miles per charge.

The Rogue crossover is one of Nissan Motor Co.'s highest-volume production vehicles. And production will soon move from Japan to America, specifically a factory in Smryna, Tennessee. The move coincides with the automaker's scheduled redesign of the Rogue in 2013, at which point the Tennessee assembly plant is expected to put out 100,000 units of the Rogue per year.

The Nissan LEAF marks a historical milestone in the auto industry. It represents the next big attempt to deliver electric to U.S. consumers since the 1990's when a handful of automakers embarked upon limited EV production. This was in response to California Air Resource Board's zero-emissions vehicle (ZEV) mandate designed to combat urban pollution. As you might recall, the attempt quickly halted after a group of automakers challenged the Board's ZEV?
